BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION:
Discussion of the what, why, where, when, and how to enable Council to have reasonably complete description of he contemplated action. This should include attachment of bid tabulation, or ordinance or resolution if appropriate. What are the benefits to the City of this action? What are the citizen concerns?
The 87th Texas Legislative Session has commenced. This agenda item is to provide City Council an update on the legislative activities so that City Council may, if needed, provide additional direction to the legislative team. The update will also provide information on the status of the priority legislative initiatives identified in the City's State Legislative Agenda and movement on city related bills.

Has the Council previously considered this item or a closely related one?
On February 15, 2021 City Council received a legislative update and provided additional direction. Prior to that, on October 26, 2020, City Council approved the City's legislative agenda and priority legislative initiatives for the 87th Texas Legislative Session.
